1. Restoring Trust, Integrity, and Democracy

CORE PROMISE: I will make government transparent - so power answers to people, not donors.

American democracy is under strain because too many leaders put party, donors, and corporate lobbyists ahead of the people they represent. Washington has become a place where insiders write the rules, money shapes outcomes, and ordinary citizens feel unheard.

Members of Congress trade stocks in industries they regulate. Corporations use loopholes and dark-money PACs to influence legislation. Ethics violations go unpunished. Committee hearings turn into partisan spectacle instead of problem-solving. Government transparency is inconsistent and often deliberately obstructed.

Voters across the political spectrum doubt whether elected officials are working for them. Trust erodes with every scandal, every hidden meeting with lobbyists, and every time political leaders avoid accountability. The result is a democracy that functions on paper but fails in practice — leaving people cynical, disengaged, and convinced that the system is rigged.

Maryland’s Fifth District sees this firsthand: decades of entrenched power, little transparency, and a growing disconnect between constituents and their representatives. Restoring trust requires more than speeches — it requires structural reform, ethical leadership, and a commitment to serve people, not special interests.

HOW I’LL WORK TO FIX IT:

Ban congressional stock trading (H.R. 1908 and H.R. 3779) and require qualified blind trusts

Reject corporate PAC money and publish my fundraising sources in plain English

Push for enforceable ethics laws with independent oversight and public reporting

Strengthen whistleblower protections and enforce real penalties for retaliation

Always serve my constituents interest before blindly towing the party line

Ban “revolving door” lobbying abuses by extending cooling-off periods and strengthen disclosure

MD-05 FOCUS POINT:

I will build a “constituent-first calendar” so every county gets regular access - not just the loudest zip codes

I will post my official schedule: meetings with constituents, public events, and any lobbyist meetings

I will hold recurring, fixed-schedule town halls (in-person + virtual) across MD-05
