“This race isn’t about national attention — it’s about who actually understands the everyday lives of people in Maryland’s Fifth District.”
“The question isn’t who has the biggest platform — it’s who will still be accountable to this community after the spotlight fades.”
“The Fifth District doesn’t need a moment. It needs representation rooted in the community and accountable every single day.”
Statement on harry dunn’s entrance into the MD-05 race:
I want to begin by recognizing Harry Dunn for his service to this country and for his courage on January 6, 2021. What he endured that day took real bravery, and his actions helped defend our democracy at one of it’s most dangerous moments. For that, he deserves respect and gratitude.
At the same time, this race is not about national attention or a single moment in history. It’s about who understands the everyday realities of the people who live in Maryland’s Fifth District — who knows the roads, we drive, the schools our kids attend, the cost pressures families are facing, and the community concerns that don’t make national headlines.
The people of the Fifth District deserve representation rooted in lived experience here — someone who is part of the community, not just familiar with it from afar. This district is diverse, spread across multiple counties, and shaped by local challenges that require deep, ongoing engagement, not a national profile. Open seats always attract interest, especially when national attention is involved. That’s not new. But voters should ask a simple question: Who has been showing up for this district long before this race began — and who will still be here long after the cameras move on?
This campaign has always been about community-first representation. It’s about listening, building trust, and doing the work on the ground — not parachuting in because the timing looks right.
The Fifth District doesn’t need a moment. It needs a representative who knows it, lives it, and is accountable to it every single day.
